Makita Cordless Drills

18 volt small pack - Purchased in 2007

Strengths: small pretty well balanced with long battery life even comes with a built in lite when you hit the trigger.and has huge tourq for its size.

Weaknesses: they are to pretty to get dirty, and come in a cloth nylyn typ case I prefer the hard plastic case for the ware and tear.

What You Wanted to Know Before You Bought It: that home depot had them on sale for a hundred less.

What Would You Tell the Maker of This Tool: better storage and tool cary on space.for adapters etc,

Any - Purchased in 2000

Strengths: I've used every size and voltage of makita cordless drill over the years, and I really can't think of a better brand for overall quality and features. Not that there aren't other good brands out there (Porter-Cable, Bosch), I've just been so pleased with my Makitas that I just can't bring myself to stray from the fold!

Weaknesses: You do have to follow the instructions for changing gears.

What You Wanted to Know Before You Bought It: Local retailers can't seem to stock all battery sizes.

What Would You Tell the Maker of This Tool: Sell them all with 3.0Ah capacity batteries included.

18VDC - Purchased in 2006

Strengths: The 18VDC version of Makita's 12VDC impact driver is just as good a performer as the 12DC. A little heavier, but drives 5/16" X 4" lag bolts into studs with two fingers holding the drill.

Weaknesses: A little heavy and burns batteries faster than the 12VDC model

What You Wanted to Know Before You Bought It: No surprises.

What Would You Tell the Maker of This Tool: Make the light stay on a little longer. Offer 4.0 Ahr batteries... I know the weight gain is something, but battery technology is improving.

12VDC Impact Driver - Purchased in 2005

Strengths: This is a very tough, light weight tool. The 2.6Ahr batteries run well and charge fast, I have 6, they also fit in my 3 /8" Makita circular saw.

Weaknesses: None than I have found.

What You Wanted to Know Before You Bought It: This is my third 12VDC Makita Impact driver. I gave the others away still working well when the model with a light came out.

What Would You Tell the Maker of This Tool: Make the light stay on a bit longer. And improve Makita's line of bits and drills for this machine

18 v Impact drill - Purchased in 2006

Strengths: Small drill to get into tight places, with a light when you press trigger. Recharges in as quick as 10 minutes, best tool I have, my only worry is that i will overuse it!

Weaknesses: not many..... sometimes the bit sticks in the chuck, a quick tap and that it.

What You Wanted to Know Before You Bought It: wish it was less costly

What Would You Tell the Maker of This Tool: Its the best tool I have.... another one... free?

Purchased in 2007

Strengths: Best drill I've had, and I've had several of the big names. Keyless chuck works smoothly (bits don't get caught between teeth), batteries last a long time and charge before you can run another one dead, and as powerful and useful as anything I've used.

Weaknesses: doesn't change gears well. I've had two and this seems to be a consistent problem. I had to exchange the first one because it stopped switching gears all together.

BDF 452 - Purchased in 2007

Strengths: Lithim ion 18 volt model Light and fits very well in my hand.

Weaknesses: None yer

What You Wanted to Know Before You Bought It: How good it is. I would have got it sooner. I had 12 volt dewalts, 12 makitas. 9.6 makita and have tried 19 volt sears. I has a good balance of power to light weight. I have the compact model. 1500 amp battery.

What Would You Tell the Maker of This Tool: You go this one right, Thanks.
