WD4550
-
Purchased in 2006
Strengths: BRAND - It's actually an Emerson marketed by Ridgid, and it is just that! Yea, this little two and one half foot wide tool box-look’n machine is a WET/DRY vac pack’n away up to 4.5 gallons of quick and easy clean up. At under 16 pounds empty its light and easy to carry. We like to use it mostly for smaller debris and miter port dust control. You can also stand on it, sit on it and store like you would a toolbox. All the cords, parts and hoses fit inside totally contained and protected from the sometimes-rough environment of the job site. That neat and tidy look is probably my favorite thing about this tool.
Other Specs – Peak HP – 5
Hose size – 1 7/8”
Microban® treated 3-layer fine dust filter
Weaknesses: The WD4550 is by no means a large capacity clean machine! This is strictly small debris and spill clean up and is good for miter and table saw dust ports on the job.
What You Wanted to Know Before You Bought It: I can't think of anything.
What Would You Tell the Maker of This Tool: I think Ridgid would benefit from pushing the HEPA filter. The name is so recognizable that customers will sometimes ask, "are you using a HEPA in that thing?" It would save the contractor the trouble of having to explain the adequacy of the Microban compared to the HEPA.
